Ireland: Irish revote likely on EU treaty
Now there’s a surprise. Re-votes in Ireland are becoming a habit. If at first you don't succeed "ah sure, we'll  do it again."
Not too long ago the Nice Treaty was rejected so the Irish government did the most logical thing (in their minds) and re-held the referendum and what do you know,  it passed.
Now it would seem they will do it again with the Lisbon Treaty. The point of a referendum is to hear the active voice of the people. In this case, the people have already spoken and have rejected the Lisbon Treaty. There is something disturbingly undemocratic and banana-republic-like about retaking votes until the government, not the people, get what they want. One wonders of they they should do this during elections as well?

Nevada's brothels hit hard times
This is a 5 alarm emergency - pack up: we'll meet in the lobby at the Venetian at 5pm.

US banking system is doomed
Really? The funds that are being spent to bail out banks is doing just that. Only that. There’s no
trickle down to the foreclosed consumer. The consumer ends up oweing the bank the full amount of the loan and loses
their property. The bank however gets bailed out, retains the property, and when the good times roll around again
they watch their property sell at the top of a new market. Where's the justice here, eh? And, despite the headline, the
sky is not falling, the good times are on the way again.

San Francisco to vote on George W Bush sewage works
Brilliant and funny - even the President must see the humor in this.  This is true comedic democracy at work and
will leave GWB with no doubt that you can please some of the people some of the time but you can’t please all of
us all of the time. It also reminds us to take ourselves a little less seriously.

Japan's Booming Sex Niche: Elder Porn
We saw this story last week and ignored it hoping it would go away. It didn't. What happened to long walks as the sun-sets and sipping tea, reminiscing about old times in old age? Just writing about it is project images of...I can't go there.

Blog: Ship of Fools.
Brilliantly written, if lengthy, diatribe (in need of an editor) aimed at the Irish unions resolution to boycott Israel.
Yes, I wrote it.
